Seam in leather binding

Leather color chart

Floorpro has its own line of leather binding. The hides were specially selected for their durability in a flooring application. We slit our hides into the size needed to make the binding for your rug so you get exactly the size you want. We seam the leather binding together by hand to assure you of the least visible seam (picture below).

Features of our leather.
  • Top grain - from the uppermost layer of a hide which is the highest quality part of the hide.
  • Aniline dyed - leather that is colored all the way through with a transparent dye. The effect is applied by immersing the leather in a dye bath. Because the finish is transparent and shows the natural markings of the leather, only the best quality hides can be used.
  • Pigmented Leather – extremely durable it is used in the majority of furniture upholstery and almost all car upholstery.  Pigmented leathers are easy to maintain and have maximum resistance to wear, soiling, and fading from light.
  • Embossed - leather that has been stamped using heat and high pressure. The natural pebble grain finish creates a uniform and elegant appearance.
The leather can be sewn onto you rug with either a blind stitch or cut to fit one of our folders and sewn with a top stitch.

The leather is cut to the sizes below so that it will fit into one of our folders
Sewn with folder – approximately ½ material on top & ½ material on bottom
2.75” folder – 1 ¼”* leather showing on top
4.75” folder – 2 ¼”* leather showing on top

Corners – sewn mitered corners are standard with the folder sewn leather binding.
*Amount of material showing on top varies slightly depending on the thickness of the material being sewn.

All blind stitch sewn rugs are finished with mitered corners please specify cut miter or sewn miter.

When ordering please specify the amount of leather you want showing on top of the carpet.
